2 Dry Dock
Boston, Massachusetts
This 300,000 sf, 13-story commercial building is located in the burgeoning Seaport District looks to the history of the adjacent working dry docks to inspire an industrial look and feel to the project. Located near the Boston Design Center, the building is designed to attract innovative and technology-oriented tenants.
LEMON BROOKE worked with the project team to develop a quarter acre public plaza, roof top terrace and surrounding streetscape. The plaza, tentatively named “Dry Dock Plaza” will be a destination open space in the Seaport District featuring mobile “pop-up” retail on the rail tracks to help choreograph the space. An intentional use of wood and metal materials to fixed elements and a pared plant palette creates a working aesthetic that is resilient to marine weather and intermittent flooding in the short-term and replaceable in the long-term. Most recently, the plaza is the premiere location for the Lord Hobo brewery and beer garden.
